A Small, Intimate Wedding at Crover House Hotel
If you’re planning a small wedding in Cavan and wondering whether a larger venue like Crover House can still feel intimate and relaxed, this will give you a real feel for how that kind of day can unfold.
Cathy and Frankie planned a small, personal civil ceremony at Crover House — just the two of them, their celebrant and two witnesses.
No big production. No long guest list. Just a simple, meaningful moment to make it official.
I arrived early that afternoon to find them getting ready together in the bridal suite overlooking the lake — a calm, bright space filled with light and the kind of quiet excitement that comes with a day like this. Cathy’s friend was there helping, but everything felt unhurried. Easy.
It was one of those days where nothing needed to be rushed or overthought. Just two people, ready to get married.
A Love That Found Its Way
Cathy and Frankie had both been married before. They had families, full lives already in motion — but it was only when they met that they found the kind of love that changes everything.
They both worked in the same industry — Cathy as a driving instructor, Frankie alongside her — and that’s how it all started. Simple, unexpected and completely right.
They had already celebrated with a bigger family gathering before this day. But this was different. This was their official ceremony. Just the two of them and three close friends — the people who had been part of their story.
Cathy wore a handmade dress created in Carlow, where they’re both from. It suited the day perfectly — personal, considered and completely her.
And in a lovely twist, it was also Cathy’s birthday — making the day feel even more meaningful.
The Details
The details were simple but full of meaning.
Cathy’s rings — her wedding band and a birthday ring — had come from New York. Frankie wore cufflinks with his initials, and inside his jacket, their wedding date had been stitched alongside both of their initials.
Before the ceremony, they shared a quiet champagne toast together in the room. No nerves, no rush — just a moment to pause before everything began.
A Small Wedding Ceremony at Crover House
The ceremony itself was beautiful, personal and full of emotion.
With just a handful of people in the room, everything felt closer. More real. Tears flowed — from Cathy, from Frankie, from everyone there.
Frankie in particular couldn’t hold back. You could see exactly what the moment meant to him.
And then, completely unplanned, they had their first dance right there in the ceremony room — to God’s Plan. No announcement, no formalities. Just the two of them, completely in the moment.
It was one of those things you couldn’t plan if you tried — and exactly why small weddings work so well.
Why Crover House Works for a Small Wedding
Crover House might be known as a larger wedding venue, but days like this show how well it can work for something much smaller.
With everything in one place and beautiful grounds right on the doorstep, it gives you space without losing the intimacy. You’re not moving from location to location. You’re not managing a timeline.
You can simply get married, step outside, and enjoy it.
A Relaxed Celebration by the Lake
After the ceremony, we stepped out into the grounds for a champagne toast and photographs by the lake.
The weather couldn’t have been better — one of those perfect June days where everything feels easy.
There was no pressure, no schedule to chase. Just time to wander, talk, laugh and take it all in.
Two people, completely themselves, celebrating something real.
A Final Note on This Crover House Wedding
Cathy and Frankie’s day is exactly why small weddings matter.
No expectations. No performance. Just a day that reflected who they are and what matters to them.
Crover House gave them the space — but they made it their own.
If you're planning a small wedding in Cavan and want something relaxed, personal and genuinely meaningful, it’s absolutely possible — even in a larger venue like this.
