If you’re planning a wedding in Dublin and looking for a documentary wedding photographer, this will give you a real feel for how a relaxed, city wedding can unfold — and you can read more about how I approach relaxed, documentary wedding photography here.

A Relaxed Dublin City Wedding Across Three Locations
A Dublin city wedding like this gives you the best of everything — meaningful preparation at home or nearby, a personal ceremony, and a relaxed restaurant reception in the heart of the city. It’s perfect for couples who want a day that feels natural, flexible and completely their own rather than following a traditional wedding format.
Some weddings have a particular energy from the very first moment. Avril and Mark's was one of those.
By the time I arrived at bridal prep in Fitzpatrick's Hotel Dalkey, the room was already full — her mum, her bridesmaids, her two-year-old son tucked in among the excitement. Hairdryers, breakfast, cuddles and laughter. A perfect start.
Bridal Preparations at Fitzpatrick’s Hotel Dalkey
Avril's little boy was the centre of everything from the beginning — as two-year-olds tend to be. Between bites of breakfast and cuddles with him, she was getting ready surrounded by the people who matter most to her.
Her smile was infectious all morning. You could feel how happy she was.
Wedding Ceremony at St. Peter’s Church, Little Bray
The ceremony at St. Peter's Church was warm and intimate — prayers, poems and music from people they loved. Their son was by their side throughout which made the whole thing feel like a genuine family occasion rather than just a wedding ceremony.
As they came out of the church a gust of wind caught Avril's veil. She laughed it off immediately. That reaction told you everything about her.
Marco Pierre White Donnybrook Wedding Reception
The drinks reception at Marco Pierre White's in Donnybrook was everything a June afternoon in Dublin should be — sunshine, outdoor space, canapés, bubbles and warm company.
The speeches were where the day really hit its peak. Avril's tribute to her mum — heartfelt, emotional and full of genuine gratitude — stopped the room completely. There wasn't a dry eye anywhere.
Moments like that are why this job matters.
Kind Words from Avril & Mark
"Thanks so much for sending on the pictures. They're really gorgeous — some lovely memories of the day. Thanks again for everything on the day too, really enjoyed having you there."
— Avril & Mark
A Final Note on This Dublin City Wedding
Avril and Mark's day moved between three different Dublin locations and never lost its momentum or warmth for a single moment. Marco Pierre White's in Donnybrook is a beautiful reception venue — elegant, intimate and perfect for a smaller celebration.
If you're planning a wedding in Dublin or anywhere across the city and want a relaxed, documentary approach, I’d love to hear about your plans.
