A Relaxed Dublin Elopement Celebration Across the City

A Dublin elopement or city celebration like this gives you complete freedom — no strict timeline, no formal structure, just the chance to explore the city together and mark the moment in a way that feels natural and meaningful. It’s perfect for couples travelling to Ireland who want something relaxed, personal and completely their own.

Elle and Dan got married on a lighthouse in Cleveland Ohio. Then they got on a plane to Ireland.

No venue, no seating plan, no timeline. Just two people who had just got married in one of the most romantic settings imaginable, a wish list of Dublin bars and landmarks, and a whole city to explore.

One of my favourite days out.

Planning a Dublin Elopement Celebration

After eloping on a lighthouse — just the two of them — Elle and Dan wanted to celebrate somewhere that meant something to them. They'd been to Dublin before and fallen for it, so coming back here to mark the occasion made perfect sense.

The brief was simple — wander the city, visit the places they loved, have a few drinks and let the day unfold however it wanted to. Trinity College, Dublin Castle, Temple Bar, George's Arcade, Dawson Street, St. Stephen's Green and the Ha'Penny Bridge. With Peruke & Periwig, Farrier & Draper, The Stag's Head and Café en Seine along the way.

Dublin, in other words. All of it.

Small Details That Tell the Story

Elle had worn her Louboutins for the start of the day — beautiful but not exactly built for Dublin cobblestones. Her Converse came out fairly quickly. Dan helped her swap back and forth throughout the day depending on the terrain.

Small details like that are the ones worth remembering.

Exploring Dublin City After an Elopement

We started at Trinity College — one of those Dublin locations that never gets old, all granite and cobblestones and history. Then Dublin Castle, where the grounds gave us room to breathe and some genuinely beautiful backdrops.

The Irish weather was on our side — which is never guaranteed in October — and we made the most of it. Molly Malone, lunch alfresco at Chez Max, then into Temple Bar for their first proper pint of Guinness. The barman at The Temple Bar pulled them a celebratory one on the house. Locals stopped to congratulate them on the street. A croissant eaten sitting on the footpath in the sunshine.

Dublin doing exactly what Dublin does.

Celebrating in Dublin’s Bars and Landmarks

The cocktail bar wish list was very much part of the brief.

Peruke & Periwig on Dawson Street — all candlelight and dark wood and excellent drinks, with a complimentary glass of bubbles waiting for them. Farrier & Draper in the Powerscourt Townhouse — tucked away and beautiful. The Stag's Head — a Dublin institution that needs no introduction. Café en Seine — where they tried their first baby Guinness shots and decided they wouldn't be their last.

At more than one stop the staff spotted the occasion and sent something over. That's the thing about Dublin — it shows up for people.

Ending the Day at the Ha’Penny Bridge

The day ended at the Ha'Penny Bridge with the evening light over the Liffey — which was about as perfect a finish as you could ask for.

By the end of it Elle and Dan were relaxed, happy and very much in love with Ireland. The city had done its job.

Kind Words from Elle & Dan

"We just sat down to go through these photos and they are absolutely amazing — we are thrilled. Thank you so much for capturing our day and for spending it with us in Dublin. Ireland will always have a place in our hearts and we can't wait to come back. We will never forget that day."

— Dan & Elle, Cleveland Ohio

A Final Note on This Dublin Elopement

Elle and Dan are a reminder that a wedding celebration doesn't need a venue or a schedule to be worth documenting properly. They got married in Ohio, flew to Ireland and spent a day letting Dublin work its magic on them.
