Aaron didn't turn around until Grace was right beside him at the altar. He was already crying.
That moment — that quiet, unguarded, completely human moment — said everything about Grace and Aaron and the kind of day their wedding was going to be.
Some couples are visibly in love. These two were deeply in love. There's a difference and the camera finds it every time.
Hotel Woodstock Ennis Wedding in County Clare
Grace and Aaron met during the COVID lockdown at the University of Limerick — a Texas-born dancer and an Irish physicist, both finding their way through an uncertain world and finding each other in the process. Aaron proposed back at the spot of their first date on the UL campus. When Grace turned around, he was on one knee. Her mother was already crying into her phone camera.
By the time October 2025 came around, family had flown in from Texas and beyond, and eighty people gathered at Hotel Woodstock in Ennis to watch two people who had been through a lot together finally get married.
You could feel all of that history in the room.
Hotel Woodstock Wedding Ceremony in Ennis
Grace was walked down the aisle by her late father's best friend — a moment that carried enormous weight and was met with complete silence before the emotion broke through. Aaron didn't turn around until she was right beside him. He was already in tears.
Grace and Aaron had written their own vows — honest, personal and deeply moving. They also included a traditional handfasting ceremony which added something really meaningful to the occasion. This wasn't a ceremony performed for an audience. It was a conversation between two people who genuinely see each other.
Aaron's grandfather watching from the front row — the joy and pride on his face — is one of those moments I'll remember from this day.
A Relaxed, Documentary Approach to Wedding Photography
What struck me most about Grace and Aaron was how present they were with each other throughout the entire day. Not performing for photographs, not managing the logistics — just genuinely there, together, noticing each other.
Grace is a dancer by training and it shows in how she moves through the world — naturally graceful, completely at ease in her own skin. Aaron is warm, open and wears his heart on his sleeve in the best possible way.
There was a moment later in the day when Grace quietly reached over and wiped his tears away. She didn't make a thing of it. She just did it. That's the kind of detail that tells you everything about two people.
Hotel Woodstock Ennis Wedding Venue
Hotel Woodstock in Ennis is a wonderful choice for couples planning a relaxed wedding in Clare. With its warm, welcoming atmosphere and beautiful surroundings, it lends itself perfectly to a documentary approach — allowing the day to unfold naturally while capturing real, meaningful moments.
Hotel Woodstock is a genuinely lovely venue — a family-run hotel just outside Ennis with warmth and genuine Irish hospitality running through everything. With family travelling from the US and across Ireland, the atmosphere was full of reunions, first meetings and the particular energy that comes from people who have crossed oceans to be somewhere.
We were lucky with the weather — a storm had passed through the day before and we got outside for portraits, with the hotel grounds providing a beautiful autumn backdrop.
The pace of the day was unhurried and generous. There was space for everything — for the emotion, for the laughter, for the quiet moments between the big ones.
Wedding Speeches and Evening Celebrations at Hotel Woodstock
I covered the day from morning preparations through to the speeches — eight hours that flew by in the way that the best wedding days do.
Before the evening celebrations began I got to watch Grace and Aaron run through their first dance — a joyful, personality-filled rendition of Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing. Grace is a dancer. Of course it was perfect. Of course it suited them completely.
The speeches were delivered by Grace's uncle and Aaron's father — warm, funny and full of love for two people who had clearly made everyone around them very happy.
A Final Note on This Hotel Woodstock Ennis Wedding
Grace and Aaron trusted me completely from the moment they got in touch — they said my work spoke for itself and that they didn't have many questions. That kind of trust is a gift. It allows a day to unfold exactly as it should, without anyone performing for the camera.
