Boyne House Slane | Intimate Wedding Venue in Slane Village
Right in the heart of Slane village, Boyne House is a beautifully restored Georgian building that caters for weddings of just 8 to 21 guests in the main house — which makes it one of the most genuinely intimate venues in the county. It's not a hotel that does small weddings as an afterthought. Small weddings are what it's built for.
The setting is beautiful — historic architecture, lush gardens, the village of Slane right on the doorstep. And if you have guests travelling from Dublin, it's an easy run up the M1.
Good for: Couples who want exclusive use of a beautiful space with a genuinely small guest list.
Station House Hotel, Kilmessan | A Characterful Meath Venue That Works Beautifully for Smaller Weddings
Full disclosure — this is where I got married myself. So yes, I'm biased. But I'm also right.
The Station House Hotel in Kilmessan is a former 19th century railway station set in 12 acres of gardens and woodland in the heart of the Boyne Valley. The Signal Restaurant — the main wedding space — is full of original features: high ceilings, shuttered sash windows, an open fireplace. It seats up to 60 guests, which puts it at the larger end of what we're covering here, but for a smaller group it has a warmth and character that a purpose-built hotel ballroom simply can't replicate.
The team are experienced, the food is excellent, and the grounds are genuinely beautiful for photography in every season. I can say all of that from very personal experience.
Good for: Couples who want a venue with real soul and a team that knows how to look after people.
Tankardstown House | A Beautiful Meath Venue for Intimate Weddings
Tankardstown House is an 18th century manor set in the heart of Co. Meath and it does intimate weddings beautifully. The Drawing Rooms in the main house are elegant without being stuffy, and the Orangery — bright, light-filled, opening onto the gardens — is one of the loveliest ceremony spaces in the county.
The whole estate has a quietly luxurious feel. There are cottage suites on site for guests staying over, award-winning food from the Brabazon restaurant, and grounds that photograph brilliantly whatever the weather.
Good for: Couples who want understated elegance and a venue that takes care of every detail.
The Conyngham Arms, Slane | Boutique Wedding Venue in Meath
The Conyngham Arms is a beautifully restored coaching inn in the centre of Slane and it's one of those venues that feels completely its own thing. The Willow Suite opens directly onto a terrace and landscaped gardens, which gives even a small wedding a real sense of occasion.
It's relaxed, it's warm, it's full of character — and it doesn't feel like a wedding factory. For couples who want a day that feels personal rather than packaged, it's worth a serious look.
Good for: Couples who want a boutique feel with great food and a beautiful village setting.
Boyne Hill House, Navan | An Exclusive-Use Country House for Intimate Weddings
Set in 38 acres of gardens and parkland just outside Navan, Boyne Hill House is a Georgian property with eight luxurious bedroom suites, two dining rooms, a library, and a billiard room. It's the kind of place where a small wedding genuinely takes over the whole house — and that's exactly the point.
The bridal suite has a four-poster bed and views over the gardens. There's on-site accommodation for up to 35 guests. For a small wedding that wants the run of a beautiful country house, this is a brilliant option.

Meath is one of my favourite counties to photograph weddings in. The landscape, the old buildings, the quality of light along the Boyne Valley — it all adds up.
