Planning a small wedding in Cavan? You’re not alone.
More and more couples are choosing to keep things simple — a smaller guest list, a relaxed timeline and a day that actually feels like them.
The good news is that Cavan has some beautiful options for intimate weddings. Even venues that are known for larger celebrations can work surprisingly well for something smaller when approached the right way.
Here are some of the best small wedding venues in Cavan — along with how they actually work for a relaxed, personal day.

Cavan Wedding Venues for Small, Intimate Celebrations
Planning a small wedding in Cavan and not sure where will actually suit?
A lot of venues here are known for larger weddings, which can make it harder to picture how a smaller, more relaxed day might work. But the reality is — with the right approach, many of them can feel incredibly intimate.
Cavan is a beautiful place for this kind of wedding. Lakes, countryside, old buildings and a slower pace that suits a day without pressure or performance.
Below are some of the best wedding venues in Cavan that work particularly well for small, personal celebrations — along with how they actually feel on the day.
Crover House Hotel — A Beautiful Cavan Venue for Small Weddings
Crover House sits right on the edge of Lough Sheelin and it's one of those venues that gets better the longer you're there. It's a larger hotel that caters beautifully for small weddings too — I've photographed an incredibly intimate wedding here with just three guests, and the team handled it with the same care and attention you'd expect for a much larger day.
The setting is the thing. The lake, the grounds, the light on the water. If you want a Cavan wedding that feels unhurried and a bit removed from the world, Crover House delivers that.
Good for: Couples who want a lakeside setting with a proper hotel team behind them, whatever the size of the group.
The Olde Post Inn — An Intimate Wedding Venue in Cavan
The Olde Post Inn in Cloverhill is a boutique venue in the truest sense — a 200-year-old building with open fires, award-winning food, and a team that genuinely cares how your day goes. I've shot here and have another wedding coming up later this year, and it's one of those places that photographs beautifully in every season.
It works really well for small weddings — I've photographed groups of 30 here and it feels exactly right at that size. Worth knowing that if you want exclusive use of the entire building, you'll need 80 or more guests — but for an intimate wedding it's a brilliant choice as it is.
Good for: Couples who prioritise incredible food and a venue with real character.
Cavan Crystal Hotel — A Flexible Cavan Venue for Small Weddings
The Cavan Crystal Hotel is well established as one of the county's leading wedding venues, and it works well for smaller weddings too. It's modern in style with a warm welcome, and the team of wedding coordinators are experienced at tailoring the day to what you actually want rather than a one-size-fits-all package.
Centrally located in Cavan town, it's a practical choice if you have guests travelling from different directions and want somewhere with all the logistics sorted.
Good for: Couples who want a reliable, well-run venue with everything under one roof.
Farnham Estate — A Luxury Wedding Venue in Cavan for Smaller Weddings
Farnham Estate is a 16th-century estate just outside Cavan town and yes, it's a larger venue. But it's worth including here because it handles small weddings well. The grounds are stunning, the team are used to tailoring the day, and there's a spa on site — which, if you're the type of couple who wants a relaxed lead-up to the day, is worth factoring in.
The setting — mature woodland, sweeping grounds, that particular quality of light you get on a big estate — is genuinely beautiful to photograph.
Good for: Couples who want the wow-factor of a grand estate without the pressure of filling it.
St Kyrans Country House — An Exclusive Intimate Wedding Venue in Cavan
Just 45 minutes from the M50, St Kyrans sits on the banks of Lough Ramor and offers exclusive use for intimate weddings. The mature gardens, the lake views, the sense of having a beautiful space entirely to yourselves — it's a genuinely lovely option that doesn't get talked about nearly enough.
If you're coming from Dublin and want a venue that feels properly away from it all without a long drive, St Kyrans is worth a serious look.
Good for: Couples who want an exclusive-use venue with a peaceful, countryside feel close enough to the city.
Planning a Small Wedding in Cavan?
Cavan is one of my favourite places to photograph small weddings. The landscape does a lot of the work — water, greenery and that particular Irish light — but it’s the pace of the day that really makes the difference.
Smaller weddings here tend to feel more relaxed, more personal and far less pressured than a traditional day. That’s where documentary photography works best — when you’re free to just enjoy it and let everything unfold naturally.
If you're planning a small wedding in Cavan and want a relaxed, documentary approach, I’d love to hear about your plans.
